Allegro Network Multimeter Release 4.3
Enhanced performance and new features
The new firmware version 4.3 is available for the Allegro Network Multimeter. This firmware contains numerous improvements and enhancements compared to version 4.2 and can be installed on all devices with support.
The highlights of the release include:
- Advanced Security Analysis with Snort Integration: In response to the growing need for robust network security, we've introduced a Snort prototype. This integration allows you to analyze traffic using Snort, providing awareness about threat detection and enhancing your ability to identify and respond to potential security risks. In order to use this feature you have to enable it first under "Settings" -> "Global settings" -> "Generic settings" -> "Snort analysis" and reserve a part of the in-memory database. Afterwards the Snort analysis is available in the capture dialog and will provide on click an overview about potential malicious connections with the capture.
- Improved VoIP Analytics: We've enhanced our VoIP analysis capabilities by adding support for the R-value metric alongside the existing MOS score. This addition provides a more comprehensive view of voice quality, allowing for more accurate troubleshooting and optimization of VoIP services.
- NAT Support for Path Measurement: We've implemented NAT support for path measurement, addressing the challenges of analyzing traffic in complex network setups involving firewalls. This feature enables more accurate path analysis in NAT environments, providing clearer insights into network performance across your infrastructure.
- Enhanced WiFi Support: We've expanded our WiFi capabilities to provide unparalleled visibility into your WiFi networks, enabling more effective troubleshooting, security analysis, and performance optimization:
- Comprehensive BSS Client Profiling: Gain detailed insights into WiFi client capabilities, including cryptographic features, beam-forming, and high-throughput settings
- Advanced Handshake Analysis: Thoroughly examine client-BSS handshakes with step-by-step details, allowing for precise identification and diagnosis of connection issues
- Robust WiFi Monitoring: Capture and analyze packets with bad FCS (Frame Check Sequence), providing a more complete picture of wireless signal quality and potential interference
- Enhanced WiFi Scan Results: Obtain more comprehensive network information, empowering you to make informed decisions about WiFi configuration and optimization
- Comprehensive BSS Client Profiling: Gain detailed insights into WiFi client capabilities, including cryptographic features, beam-forming, and high-throughput settings
- SIP Event Export via IPFIX: We introduce new export capabilities for SIP events through IPFIX. This feature allows for seamless integration with external analytics platforms, enabling more comprehensive VoIP monitoring and troubleshooting across your entire network ecosystem. If you're using 3rd party collectors, you can now easily stream SIP event data for advanced analysis and correlation.
- Remote Capture Mode for Replay Slots: In response to customer feedback, we've added support for remote capture mode on replay slots. This powerful feature allows you to process and analyze captured data remotely, even after the initial capture. While this mode may be slower than live-capture remote mode, it provides unprecedented flexibility in how you work with network data, enabling deeper analysis and troubleshooting of historical network events.
- Long-Term Data Persistence: Our new long-term persistence database offers an alternative view for historical data analysis. With the ability to store data over a year, you can now track trends, identify recurring issues, and make data-driven decisions based on long-term network performance. This feature is available as prototype and we are going to deliver further statistics in the next release 4.4. More information about the configuration can be found in our product manual.
- GENEVE Protocol Support: As networks evolve, so do we. We've added support for the GENEVE protocol, catering to the growing trend of migration from NSX-V to NSX-T. This addition ensures that you can effectively monitor and troubleshoot modern, software-defined networking environments.
- Expanded Reporting Capabilities: We've made significant improvements to our reporting system, both in the Web Interface and PDF formats. These enhancements provide clearer, more informative reports that help you communicate network performance and issues more effectively to stakeholders.
