Allegro Network Multimeter Release 4.5

Enhanced long-term DB and new configuration options

The new firmware version 4.5 is available for the Allegro Network Multimeter. This firmware contains numerous improvements and enhancements compared to version 4.4.3 and can be installed on all devices with support.

The highlights of the release include:

  • TCP Statistics for Layer 7 Protocols: TCP statistics have been added for L7 protocols. This shows application quality metrics such as response times for each application protocol. This information is also available for custom protocols.

  • Enhanced Long-Term Database: MAC statistics as well as MAC and IP global statistics are now part of the Long-Term DB, allowing you to track host activity over extended periods. In addition, IP groups are now supported with historical traffic graphs, giving you better visibility into traffic patterns within defined address ranges. The configuration has been simplified: persistence is now automatic, and a daily scheduled database write ensures your data is regularly saved without manual intervention. The time can be configured in the persistence settings to any full hour of the day. It is recommended to enable it at a time of day with less traffic then usual since writing data to storage increases the load of the system.

  • Border Gateway Protocol (BGP): A new measurement module for the BGP has been added. The module provides detailed statistics for each individual router that sends BGP packets, as well as for traffic exchanged between BGP router pairs. For even deeper analysis, dedicated detail views are available.

  • New Snort configuration options: The Snort feature now includes a built-in rule and configuration editor. Snort config lua files can be edited directly, or edited via adjusted various variables snort uses. In addition, detection rules can be uploaded or edited directly in the browser. You can access the Snort configuration under "Settings" → "Global settings" → "Snort".
