BGP module

The BGP module processes and displays network packets of the Border Gateway Protocol for IPv4 and IPv6 routers. It lists all the detected router devices and router pairs as well as their traffic statistics.

The top section on the overview page shows global statistics about the overall BGP traffic.

The bottom section on the overview page provides listings of the most active BGP routers and router pairs.

The BGP Routers tab lists all detected routers sending BGP messages identified by their IPv4 / IPv6 address.

Every row holds information about:

  • Propagated information via OPEN and UPDATE messages
  • Total and message specific counters for received and transmitted BGP messages
  • Time-dependant graph views for the different message counters

Via the highlighted link more detailed information about one BPG router can be accessed.

The BGP router statistics page provides detailed insights for a selected BGP router device. It shows some general information as well as different listings about all the announced autonomous systems (AS), all the announced subnets and known partner routers. Additionally it provides a more detailed view about the sent messages and specific NOTIFICATION message types.

The BGP Router Pairs tab lists all detected router pairs sending BGP messages between each other identified by their source and destination IPv4 / IPv6 address. Each pair is listed twice with each router as source and as destination instance.

Every row holds information about:

  • Propagated information via OPEN and UPDATE messages by the source router
  • Total and message specific counters for BGP messages sent from the source to the destination
  • NOTIFICATION messages sent by the destination router are getting tracked under Received errors for the source router
  • Time-dependent graph views for the different message counters

Via the highlighted link more detailed information about one BGP router pair can be accessed.
